This module explores the psychological dimensions of mid-to-late gestation, delving into the unfolding world of the unborn human from the formation of the placenta to the initiation of labor. Drawing on insights from embryology, prenatal psychology, somatic theory, and developmental neurobiology, each lesson investigates how these formative experiences may be lived by the prenate and how they resonate later in life.
We approach gestation not merely as a physiological process, but as a period rich in psychological meaning, relational experience, and cellular-level memory. The baby is regarded not as a passive recipient of biology but as an intelligent, perceiving participant in its own development.
Aims and Goals
1. To integrate biological and psychological perspectives:
Professionals will deepen their understanding of how physiological gestational events correspond to developing inner experiences in the prenate.
2. To cultivate salutogenic perspectives:
Learners will identify how disruptions or overstimulations during gestation may create imprints that manifest in later relational or psychological patterns. But also carry the seeds of wisdom aligned to the cosmological laws that remain(s) to be revealed.
3. To train observational and clinical sensitivity:
Learners will develop a perceptual and interpretive skillset to recognize gestation-related themes in adult clients or in their work with families.
4. To foster intersubjective awareness:
Participants will learn how to include the unborn baby as an active partner in the relational field—both therapeutically and in birth-related practices.
Evaluation Criteria and Rationale
Evaluation in this module is not merely a form of assessment, but a means to foster integration, presence, and personal synthesis. It includes four key components:
-
Completion of Assignments
The experiential assignments are designed to activate embodied understanding, inner exploration, and perspective-shifting. They allow participants to connect theory with personal insight and to engage in meaningful dialogue with prenatal experiences and developmental processes. -
Presence in the Meetings (Live or Online)
Active participation in live or recorded meetings fosters group coherence and shared field. Whether synchronous or asynchronous, presence cultivates relational learning — exposing participants to diverse interpretations, deepening resonance, and strengthening the collective intelligence of the group. -
Timely Submission of Study Diary Entries
The study diary is a vital container for self-reflection and continuity. It traces the learner’s unique journey through the course, providing a living record of impressions, questions, emotional resonances, and emergent knowledge. Timely entries support rhythm, responsibility, and the unfolding of personal entelechy. -
Understanding of Key Knowledge (Tested through Quizzes)
While much of this module involves contemplative and imaginative work, foundational knowledge remains essential. Quizzes serve as checkpoints to ensure participants can recall, articulate, and responsibly work with key concepts — laying the groundwork for ethical application in practice or advocacy.
Together, the above described criteria support a holistic integration of the material: intellectually, emotionally, relationally, and ethically. They ensure that participants not only engage with the content but also embody the care, attunement, and discernment required when holding space for the unborn and those who accompany them.
